Application for Grant only (Taxable Estate) – fixed fee

We can make an application for Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration on your behalf for a fixed fee if you provide us with the information required.

To enable us to complete the application you would need to provide valuations of each of the deceased’s assets and liabilities, as at the date of death.

On a taxable estate we will complete a full account, IHT400, and prepare a Statement of Truth for signing by the Executors or Administrators.

The IHT400 is submitted to H M Revenue & Customs together with the payment of Inheritance Tax. H M Revenue & Customs then return a receipt which confirms Inheritance Tax has been paid. This form is submitted to the Probate Registry along with the Statement of Truth and Will, if applicable.

Once we are in receipt of the Grant this would be passed to you to enable you to encash the assets, pay the liabilities and distribute the estate.

Costs

Our fixed fee for this service is £1,495.00 plus VAT.

We also charge a fee of £15.00 plus VAT to carry out an identity check for each Executor or Administrator.

Potential Additional costs

If the Will is found to be defective and an Affidavit is required additional costs will be payable.

All charges for VAT will be charged at the current rate of 20%.

Disbursements which would be payable in addition to our fee

Disbursements are expenses paid on your behalf such as the Probate Application Fee paid to the Court.

  • Probate Application fee £526.00.
  • Office Copy of Grant £2.00 each.
  • Inheritance Tax. For further details please see GOV.UK.

Timescales

We anticipate that this matter from your providing the information required to receipt of the Grant will likely be around eighteen weeks.
